Calex is pleased to announce a new opportunity to join the Mercedes-Benz Apprenticeship Programme as a Workshop Technician based in Milton Keynes.

The programme is well established, and supports hundreds of apprentices undertake formal, funded apprenticeships, in a variety of automotive specialisms.

The main objective of the role is to support the Technical Training Team and Apprentices in the workshop area; ensuring resources are available, organised and maintained. The Workshop Technician is also responsible for maintaining a safe working environment.

Applicants must possess a minimum level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, alongside experience of working in the Motor Vehicle industry. Experience within a Mercedes-Benz retail environment, as well as diagnostic and electric vehicles is desirable.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively work to policies and procedures set by the Mercedes-Benz Apprentice Academy
  • Installation, modification and repair of vehicles and equipment required for practical training sessions
  • To maintain and attend to the equipment in the workshop areas and to ensure that equipment, consumables and tools are available as required and meet health and safety standards
  • To organise the repair and servicing of departmental equipment and deletion of stock as required
  • To ensure that training areas and their associated equipment are kept clean and well stocked with relevant tools and consumables
  • Assist the planning, set up and design of End-Point-Assessment (EPA) activities
  • To create and maintain an inventory of tools, equipment and consumables for Mercedes-Benz Academy workshops and carry out ad-hoc weekly checks
  • To maintain accurate risk assessments/COSHH records for materials and equipment.
  • Contribute to process of continual improvement & assist with the internal audit process
  • Review of existing fleet and recommendation for replacement to meet requirements of programme technical content as introduced and updated by course developer
  • Weekly run, rev, quick test, reset, no major oil or water leaks on all training vehicles
  • Maximise resource opportunities from vehicles decommissioned from fleet
  • Where viable and cost effective, develop rigs in house
  • Actively operate to an promote Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding, Prevent and Health & Safety good practice in accordance with Mercedes-Benz policy and procedure
  • Participate in CPD programmes and agree objectives with line manager
  • Support Mercedes-Benz in ensuring compliance with Data Protection Regulations
  • Undertake all other duties as may be reasonably required

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A minimum level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, alongside experience of working in the Motor Vehicle industry

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Technical Mercedes-Benz Car, Van and Truck experience (ideally gained with in the Mercedes-Benz retail network, or similar)
  • Automotive Diagnostics experience (ideally gained with in the Mercedes-Benz retail network, or similar)
  • Electric & Hybrid Vehicle qualification, and practical experience
  • Experience of working in a similar role as a Workshop Technician
  • Safeguarding and Prevent experience and certification

 Place of Work

Mercedes-Benz Apprentice Academy, Tongwell, Milton Keynes.

The successful applicant will be required to work at other Mercedes-Benz locations to support ad-hoc requirements, End-Point-Assessments and other training activities as necessary.

Renumeration

Competitive renumeration package.

40 hours per week; Monday-Friday
